The US has one rule that trips people up more than any other: consulates serve fixed territories, and they require proof that you live in theirs — a state ID or driver's licence — before they will attest anything. You cannot simply pick the nearest airport. Your documents must go to the mission covering your state: the Embassy in Washington DC, or the Consulates General in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles or Houston.
Pakistan's automated online Power of Attorney is often the easier path from the US: apply online, NADRA verifies your identity, pay roughly USD 36 per document, and complete the interview online — which removes the jurisdiction trip entirely. For property matters, executants may still be required to appear. We confirm the right route before you book anything.
